Privacy Policy

Introduction

This statement outlines how Pebble & Tide Counselling handles personal information and provides important disclaimers regarding the use of our website and online content. We are committed to maintaining your privacy and transparency in how we handle your information, in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. Privacy Statement

We respect your privacy and handle all personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.

When you contact us or book a session, we may collect your name, email, and relevant details to provide counselling, tutoring, or related support. This information is stored securely through encrypted platforms such as Carepatron or Halaxy.

Client records and session notes are maintained in accordance with professional, ethical, and legal standards. Records are securely encrypted and retained for the required period before being destroyed confidentially.

All information shared in sessions is treated as strictly confidential. Information will only be disclosed with your consent, or when required by law, such as when there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others, a legal obligation to report, or if records are subpoenaed by a court.

Confidentiality and Risk of Harm
Pebble & Tide Counselling follows mandatory reporting and duty-of-care obligations under Australian law.
Confidentiality may need to be broken if:

  • There is a serious or imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else

  • There are concerns for the safety or wellbeing of a child or vulnerable person

  • Information is legally required to be shared (e.g., via subpoena or court order)

Whenever possible, clients will be informed if disclosure needs to occur, unless doing so would increase the risk of harm.

These exceptions are consistent with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics and professional legal obligations.

For more information about privacy rights, visit www.oaic.gov.au.

2. Website Disclaimer

The Pebble & Tide Counselling website is designed to provide general information, encouragement, and access to services in counselling, coaching, learning support, and wellbeing. Please read this disclaimer carefully before using this site.

2.1 General Information Only – Not Personal Advice

The content provided on this website, including blog posts, downloads, and resources, is for general educational and wellbeing purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional mental health advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Every person is different, and your situation may require personalised support. Please consult a qualified mental health professional for individual guidance.

2.2 Counselling vs Coaching – Understanding the Difference

Pebble & Tide offers both counselling and coaching. While both support personal growth, there are key differences:

  • Counselling focuses on emotional wellbeing, mental health, and navigating life challenges.

  • Coaching focuses on goals, routines, mindset, and forward planning.

Counselling is provided by a qualified, registered counsellor under the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics. Coaching is not a clinical service and does not replace mental health care.

If you are unsure which service is right for you, you’re welcome to request a free consultation.

2.3 Social Media and Resource Use

Any social media posts, blogs, or shared resources linked to Pebble & Tide are designed to offer general insight and support. Content shared online is not personalised advice.

Following or engaging with Pebble & Tide social media accounts does not create a therapeutic relationship. Comments or messages may not be monitored for emergencies.

Please note that interactions on public platforms may be visible to others and are not private communication channels.
